Medical Office Assistant

Medical Office Assistant is one of the fastest growing careers in health care. Medical Office Assistants is expected to grow 59% through the year 2012, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Medical Office Assistant program teaches students the skills necessary for employment in a medical facility or physician’s office. Upon completion of the Medical Office Assistant program, the student will possess the knowledge and skills required in the areas of anatomy & physiology, pathology, the body systems, medical terminology, medical front office procedures, CPT/ICD 9 billing and coding to function successfully in an entry level position as a Medical Office Assistant.

 

Our program is separated into learning units called modules. You must complete the modules in their entirety, in any sequence, to successfully complete this curriculum. Classes are available 24 hours a day. Students can complete the Medical Office Assistant online program within 6 months.

 

The learning modules of the Online Medical Office Assistant program encompass lecture, threaded discussion, live chats, electronic video library, interactive activities, assignments, examinations and final.

The following areas will be covered: 


 

  • Fundamentals of Health Science & Administrative Procedures
  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Introduction to CPT-4 Coding
  • Insurance Carriers
  • Patient & Hospital Billing and Collections
  • Computers in the Office / Medical Software


After successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a diploma. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the Medical Office Assistant program will be eligible to take the following national exams:

 

Certified Medical Administrative Specialist (CMAS)

National Certified Medical Office Assistant (NCMOA)

Nationally Registered title of Certified Administrative Health Assistant (NR-CAHA)
